House of Elytis Museum opens ‘Female Angels’ exhibition

The House of Elytis Museum in Plaka has inaugurated a periodic group exhibition titled ‘Female Angels’. The exhibition, opened by Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni, explores the vital female element in the work of Nobel laureate Odysseas Elytis, treating it as an archetypal symbol of strength and re-creation.

The exhibition features 50 works of painting and sculpture, 20 of which are by Odysseas Elytis himself. Thirteen participating artists have contributed works that engage with the poet’s poetic and visual universe. The display is complemented by manuscripts, photographs, documents, and books from the poet’s personal collection.

Over the past two years, the museum has hosted 42 events and welcomed 13,000 visitors, including 1,500 students.
