House of the Dragon adds Green Men and deepens Ulf’s origin in Season 3
The third season of *House of the Dragon* introduces the Green Men, a sacred order that protects the Isle of Faces on the lake Ojo de Dioses. The group, whose origins trace back to the ancient Pact that ended the war between the First Men and the Children of the Forest, appears early in episode 1 as Addam Velaryon, Ulf the White and Hugh the Hammer encounter them while awaiting orders from Queen Rhaenyra.
Actor Tom Bennett, who plays Ulf, explained the character’s new monologue that reveals a traumatic childhood. In the scene Ulf recounts an abusive upbringing and a claim by an Essosi priest that he “has blood of a king,” linking his background to the Red Priesthood of R’hllor. Bennett said the showrunner provided him with a written back‑story to use on set, allowing the performance to add depth to the otherwise rough‑hewn dragon‑seed character.
