House of the Dragon introduces blue dragon Tessarion in Season 3

Season 3 of the HBO series *House of the Dragon* features a small blue dragon named Tessarion, dubbed the “Blue Queen.” The dragon is ridden by Prince Daeron Targaryen, the youngest son of Queen Alicent Hightower and King Viserys, making him a direct challenger to Rhaenyra Targaryen’s claim.

Tessarion, only two humans tall and kept grounded with a fence of spears, appears regularly with Lord Ormund Hightower’s troops. In episode 3, she is shown at the front line during a confrontation where Ormund surrenders Daeron as a prisoner of war, using the dragon as a decoy rather than a mount. The scene hints that the blue dragon will play a larger role in the ongoing “Dance of the Dragons.” *House of the Dragon* Season 3 streams on HBO Max with new episodes premiering Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
