House of the Dragon Season 3 to debut June 21 with massive opening battle

The third season of HBO’s *House of the Dragon* will launch on June 21 on HBO and HBO Max. Showrunner Ryan Condal said the premiere will adapt the “Battle of the Gullet,” calling it “the most insane episode of television ever made” and noting that it will feature dragons, ships and multiple battlefields simultaneously.

Cast members echoed the heightened stakes. Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen, said the series now “starts at 100 mph” and finally shows the war built over two seasons. Ewan Mitchell, playing Aemond, described the opening as “total war, complete chaos right from the start.” New promotional images released by Entertainment Weekly show the main characters and a dragon‑riding Jacaerys Velaryon, underscoring the epic scope of the upcoming episodes.
