Household Cavalry soldier jailed for 12 years over child abuse plot

Graham Jarvis, a 38-year-old Household Cavalry soldier, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempting to arrange the commission of child sex offences. Jarvis had entered into an online arrangement with a woman to sexually abuse her two daughters, aged seven and 10 months, intending to travel from his London barracks to her home in Wales to commit the crimes.

The woman Jarvis was communicating with was an undercover police officer. During their interactions in early 2024, Jarvis discussed the children with the officer and requested assistance in carrying out the assaults.

At Southwark Crown Court, Judge Adam Hiddleston described Jarvis’s messages as “cold and clinical,” noting that the defendant appeared serious in his intentions rather than engaging in mere fantasy. Jarvis has been dismissed from the Army and must serve at least eight years of his sentence behind bars.
