Household cleaning hacks suggest using salt and lemon peels
Various household cleaning methods have been highlighted as effective alternatives to traditional products for maintaining home surfaces.
For cleaning glass stovetops, an alternative to vinegar and baking soda involves using salt. After preheating the stovetop slightly and turning it off, a thin layer of salt is spread over burnt-on food residues. Using a non-abrasive sponge in circular motions allows the salt to lift grease and burnt particles without the need for heavy scrubbing that might damage the glass.
To clean faucets and metal fixtures, rubbing a lemon peel over the surface can help remove water marks and surface dirt. The citric acid and natural oils, such as limonene, found in the peel work to break down mineral deposits and leave a fresh citrus scent. While effective for recent stains, more stubborn limescale may still require specialized cleaning products.
