Household cleaning experts share tips for stains and maintenance
Various household cleaning experts and professionals have shared methods for maintaining home surfaces and textiles using common ingredients.
For kitchen maintenance, a furniture manufacturer suggests using warm water and dish soap with a microfiber cloth for matte surfaces. For glossy fronts, a mixture of water and dishwasher rinse aid in a 3:1 ratio can be applied with a microfiber cloth to prevent streaks and fingerprints.
To address yellow stains on toilet seats, cleaning professionals from The Clean Group recommend a paste made of one-third cup of baking soda and three tablespoons of 6% hydrogen peroxide. This mixture should be left on the surface for approximately 30 minutes. Alternatively, soaking the seat in hot water with 100 grams of crystal soda is suggested.
Regarding laundry, Dejan Dimitrov of Laundryheapa notes that towels often become stiff due to high temperatures or limescale. To restore softness, he recommends adding 250 ml of white distilled vinegar to the washing machine with detergent, or mixing eight tablespoons of baking soda with the laundry detergent to help loosen fibers.
