Household energy efficiency and appliance usage tips

Rising electricity bills are prompting Polish households to seek ways to reduce energy consumption. While many focus on small habits like turning off lights, kitchen appliances significantly impact annual costs. For example, an electric kettle using 0.6 kWh daily can cost approximately 228 PLN per year, while a refrigerator with an average daily consumption of 0.75 kWh can cost around 285 PLN annually, depending on the model and energy class.

Additionally, common habits regarding dishwashers may lead to inefficiency. Experts suggest that rinsing dishes before loading them into a dishwasher is often unnecessary and wasteful of both water and energy. Modern dishwashers are designed to handle food residue, and sensors often adjust water and energy usage based on soil levels. Pre-rinsing can interfere with detergent effectiveness and lead to sub-optimal cleaning cycles. Instead, users are advised to simply remove large food scraps to prevent filter clogging.
