Household hacks for cleaning and cooking

Common household hacks involving white vinegar and wooden spoons offer simple solutions for cleaning and cooking.

Using white vinegar in a toilet once a week can help manage mineral deposits and stains. The acetic acid in the vinegar assists in breaking down buildup on surfaces. However, it is critical never to mix vinegar with chlorine-based cleaners or bleach, as this combination produces dangerous gases.

In the kitchen, placing a dry wooden spoon across a pot can prevent boiling water or milk from overflowing. When cooking starchy foods like pasta or rice, bubbles become more stable and form foam. The wooden spoon breaks these bubbles upon contact, temporarily slowing the foam buildup and preventing it from spilling over the edges.
