Household maintenance tips for stainless steel, sinks, and vinyl floors

Various household maintenance guides offer advice on cleaning and preserving different surfaces to avoid damage or unsightly marks.

For stainless steel, effective methods include using soapy water for fingerprints, a mixture of white vinegar and water for limescale, or lemon juice to restore shine. For heavily soiled surfaces, clay stone can be used, though it should be avoided on colored or coated stainless steel to prevent abrasion.

To maintain black composite granite sinks, experts suggest avoiding abrasive sponges and harsh chemicals that cause micro-scratches. Instead, cleaning with mild soap followed by drying with a microfiber cloth and applying a few drops of vegetable oil can restore depth and prevent white mineral deposits.

Regarding vinyl flooring, users are cautioned against using steam cleaners. Excessive heat and moisture from steam can cause vinyl planks to warp, buckle, or separate at the joints, particularly in areas under furniture where heat and moisture are trapped.
