Household methods for removing limescale from glass and tiles

Various household methods have been identified to remove limescale and soap residue from glass shower enclosures and tiles.

One approach involves a mixture of hot water, sodium percarbonate, and dish soap. To ensure effectiveness, the percarbonate must be fully dissolved in hot water before adding the detergent. This method is noted for being odorless compared to conventional chemical cleaners. Using tools such as a mini mop and a textured cloth can help scrub surfaces without excessive force or scratching.

Another practical technique utilizes a combination of baking soda and vinegar. This mixture creates a gentle effervescence that softens fatty layers and dissolves mineral deposits. Baking soda acts as a mild degreaser, while the acidity of the vinegar breaks down mineral crusts. This ecological alternative is highlighted as a way to avoid the strong odors associated with commercial chemical products.
