Household tips for kitchen odor removal and oil reuse
Various household methods can be used to manage kitchen environments and cooking resources more efficiently. To eliminate persistent food odors caused by cooking fish, bacon, or burnt food, simple ingredients like lemon, vinegar, or baking soda can be utilized. Boiling a halved lemon in water or simmering a mixture of vinegar and water can help neutralize smells, while placing baking soda in a small bowl can also absorb odors. Proper ventilation and cleaning drains are also recommended to prevent recurring smells.
Regarding cooking oils, used oil can be reused if it has not been overheated or used for extremely strong-flavored foods. To maintain oil quality, it is advised to use oils with high smoke points, such as rapeseed, peanut, or sunflower oil, and to maintain frying temperatures between 175 and 200 degrees Celsius. After cooking, oil should be cooled to room temperature and filtered through a fine sieve or coffee filter to remove food particles before storage. Pouring oil down the sink should be avoided to prevent environmental damage and clogged pipes.
