Households to receive £63 electricity bill discount

Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has confirmed that approximately 860,000 households will receive a £63 discount on electricity bills starting 6 October. The Household Electricity Discount will be applied automatically by electricity suppliers without the need for applications or means testing.

This initiative follows a previous agreement with the Treasury to provide annual electricity discounts of approximately £30 for three years. The current £63 payment is an enhanced single payment negotiated to provide additional support as winter approaches. The scheme is scheduled to continue in 2027 and 2028, with future discount values to be confirmed.
