Housemarque releases free Zenith update for Saros on PS5
Housemarque has released a major free content update titled ‘Saros: Zenith’ for the PlayStation 5 action shooter Saros. The update is designed to increase replayability for veteran players while improving accessibility for newcomers.
Key gameplay additions include ‘Eclipse Layers’, a New Game+ mode unlocked after completing the main story, and ‘Overlord Rush’, a boss rush mode featuring competitive online leaderboards. Players can compete in different sets, including a ‘Totality’ gauntlet that features all eight bosses from the base game.
The update also expands the Carcosan Modifier system with 20 new options: 10 ‘Protection Modifiers’ to ease difficulty and 10 ‘Trial Modifiers’ to increase it. New collectibles called ‘Visions’ have been added to the Eclipse Layers mode, providing additional story lore through environmental murals.
To enhance accessibility, the update introduces a ‘Slow Game Speed’ feature that allows players to reduce the pace of combat without changing projectile patterns. Other features include an ‘Auto-fire’ setting, motion sensor aiming support, and high-contrast display options.
