Houseplant care guide for watering and maintenance

Maintaining healthy houseplants requires understanding specific species' needs, as there is no universal watering schedule. Factors such as pot size, soil type, lighting, temperature, and seasonality dictate how often a plant should be watered.

For a Monstera, the ideal frequency is approximately every 1–2 weeks, allowing the top 2 inches of soil to dry partially between sessions. Signs of dehydration include drooping leaves or crispy edges, while overwatering can lead to yellowing lower leaves and root rot.

Money plants, which are common in indoor environments, may develop yellow leaves due to overwatering, insufficient light, or poor drainage. While they tolerate lower light, bright indirect sunlight promotes better growth. To prevent issues, it is essential to ensure excess water drains freely and to avoid leaving plants in standing water.
