Housing and financing opportunities announced in Costa Rica and Mexico
Various housing and financing initiatives are being highlighted in Costa Rica and Mexico. In Costa Rica, the ExpoCasa y Decoración 2026 event will take place from September 24 to 27 at Parque Viva in Alajuela. The cooperative Coopecaja will participate, offering specialized mortgage solutions including a fixed interest rate of 8.15% for 12 months, coverage for legal fees, and financing for up to 90% of property costs with a maximum of 300 million colones.
In Mexico, the Comisión Nacional de Vivienda (Conavi) operates the ‘Vivienda para el Bienestar’ program, designed for low-income families who lack access to traditional credit through institutions like Infonavit or Fovissste. To qualify, applicants must be adults, not own a home, have a family income below two minimum wages, and have not previously received housing support. Priority is given to female heads of household, elderly individuals, indigenous populations, and people with disabilities. Participation is based on specific municipal calls for applications in areas where construction projects are active.
