Housing developments in The Hague and Zaandam face timelines

In The Hague, the construction of hundreds of homes at the former Haga Hospital site is expected to begin no earlier than 2030. Alderman Kavish Partiman stated during a council debate that a new development framework must be established before the municipality can realize the planned senior housing.

In Zaandam, construction is set to begin at the Badhuisweg complex on Zaaneiland. Following the demolition of the former William Pont office in 2024, the site will be prepared for building starting in November. The project aims to deliver 120 social rental units by autumn 2028.

The Zaandam development includes specialized housing for specific groups, such as 10 units for single mothers and 10 units for elderly Afghans. The project faced previous delays due to asbestos removal and legal objections regarding parking and traffic, though the Council of State recently dismissed those objections.
