Housing disputes arise in Paraguay and Argentina
In Paraguay, families have protested in front of the Palace of Justice in Asunción to demand a halt to the auction of properties linked to the asset forfeiture process of convicted individual Ramón González Daher. The protesters claim they purchased homes and land through the real estate company Confort in good faith, unaware that the assets were tied to González Daher. They are seeking intervention from the National Secretariat of Administration of Seized and Confiscated Assets (Senabico) and the judiciary to prevent the loss of their homes.
In Argentina, the Provincial Housing Institute (IPV) in Salta has confirmed that it is proceeding with legal actions and notifications to revoke housing benefits for beneficiaries with unpaid debts. IPV President Laura Caballero stated that while many revocation processes are underway, the agency offers opportunities to restructure debt before reaching final legal resolutions. She urged residents with arrears to approach the organization to regularize their status before their cases advance to more complex legal stages.
