Housing initiatives launched in Peru and Chile
In Peru, the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) is installing 28 temporary housing modules in Pumpunya, located in the Chupaca province of Junín. This initiative aims to provide safe, temporary shelter for 48 people affected by the earthquake that occurred on July 18. These new units follow the previous installation of 20 modules that benefited 33 individuals.
In Chile, the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism (Minvu) has introduced the Integral Housing and Urbanism Plan (Pivu) for Osorno, covering the period from 2026 to 2030. The plan projects the delivery of approximately 6,000 housing solutions and various urban improvements. Currently, 2,710 housing units are under construction, with plans to add 2,555 more through projects such as the Barrio Parque Integrado and the Predio Baquedano development.
