Housing markets face rising costs and accessibility issues in Bolivia and Argentina

In Bolivia, the cost of constructing a home has risen by 58% over the last two years, according to the Cámara de Desarrolladores Inmobiliarios. Director Carlos Baldivieso noted that while 30,000 new homes are needed annually to address the housing deficit, the primary challenge is ensuring families have the financial means to acquire them. Economic uncertainty and a lack of credit are currently hindering both developers and potential buyers.

In Argentina, specifically within the interior of Buenos Aires province, there are warnings regarding the high concentration of property ownership among traditional families and the rural economy. Representative Muñoz of Inquilinos Agrupados stated that housing access has become a privilege for a small elite. The group has proposed a bill in the Buenos Aires provincial Senate to shift entry expenses from tenants to property owners, aiming to mirror existing laws in the City of Buenos Aires and La Pampa.
