Housing programs launched in Nicaragua and Argentina

Nicaragua is hosting the VIII National Housing Fair, organized by the Instituto de la Vivienda Urbana y Rural (INVUR). The event aims to connect families with housing alternatives and facilitate mortgage applications. Commercial banks will be present to assist with income verification and credit pre-qualification. For social interest housing, applicants must be Nicaraguan citizens, demonstrate income, and certify they do not currently own a home or lot. Available benefits include down payment bonuses of up to $3,500 for homes up to $30,000 and up to $2,000 for homes up to $40,000, alongside interest rate subsidies that fix rates for the first 10 years.

In Mendoza, Argentina, a new Vivienda Docente housing program is underway through a public-private investment scheme. The first stage involves constructing 250 homes for teachers and school administrators. To qualify, at least one family member must be a teacher or director with job stability. Applicants must meet minimum income requirements and cannot own other property or have previously benefited from Instituto Provincial de la Vivienda (IPV) plans. The program allows for up to 80% financing through banks or developers, with the recipient covering at least 20%.
