Housing projects announced in Uithoorn Netherlands and Geel Belgium

The municipality of Uithoorn and developer VanValentijn signed an intent agreement on 29 June to redevelop the former household school at Prinses Margrietlaan 86. The plan, part of the Thamdal masterplan, will explore feasibility for new housing, define building heights, types and parking, and redesign surrounding greenery. Rik Brekelmans, director of VanValentijn, said the project “sets the next step toward a feasible plan that fits the Thamdal masterplan,” and councilor Ferry Hoekstra added, “We are taking a concrete step toward quality housing – standing still is not an option.”

In Geel, Belgium, Vanhout Projects and Pluym‑Van Loon presented plans for 126 homes on the former Bloemmolens site in Ten Aard. The scheme includes 22 houses and 104 apartments, with several units housed in the historic mill building, a public square on Vaartstraat and a new village park covering almost a hectare. The developers aim to request a subdivision permit in mid‑August, start construction in the autumn of 2027 and complete the phased development by 2034.
