Housing protests in Germany confront forced evictions in Bremen and Tübingen

In the Gröpelingen district of Bremen, a six‑person family was forcibly evicted from their apartment after a court order from the Bremen Amtsgericht. Police deployed several patrol cars and about 20 officers, while activists from the Bremer Bündnis Zwangsräumungen verhindern demonstrated peacefully with banners and criticised the landlords.

In Tübingen’s Altstadt, a small group of activists occupied a vacant five‑storey building to protest the city’s housing shortage and the prevalence of empty properties. The police did not intervene, citing the peaceful nature of the occupation and the absence of a complaint. The city’s building mayor, Cord Soehlke, said municipal officials would contact both the occupiers and the property owners to seek a resolution.
