Houssem Aouar names Riyad Mahrez greatest Algerian player

Algerian midfielder Houssem Aouar, currently playing for Al-Ittihad, has named Riyad Mahrez as the greatest Algerian football player of all time. In an interview with Kora Break, Aouar expressed that it was a “great honor” to have played alongside Mahrez.

Aouar also discussed his life in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, noting that his adaptation has been easy due to his faith and the local lifestyle. He compared the atmosphere of Jeddah favorably to Lyon, where he grew up, noting it is less crowded than Paris. He even expressed interest in living in Saudi Arabia after his professional career concludes.

Despite his personal satisfaction with the environment, Aouar highlighted the intense sporting pressure at Al-Ittihad, suggesting the level of supporter expectation may exceed that of clubs in Europe.
