Houston and Córdoba debut new public art and playground installations
Discovery Green in Houston, Texas, has launched a monumental public art exhibition titled ‘Fantastic Animals From México: Alebrijes And Nahuales’ to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Running from September 15 to October 18, 2026, the outdoor display features eight large-scale sculptures, some reaching up to 20 feet in height. The installation includes works by prominent Mexican artisans, such as Leonardo Linares, who continues the papier-mâché tradition of his grandfather, the creator of alebrijes.
In Córdoba, Argentina, the Parque de las Tejas is undergoing a comprehensive renovation, highlighted by the installation of a massive 10-ton dinosaur structure. Measuring 15 meters high and 9 meters long, the two-story play structure is designed for children aged 2 to 8. The renovation also includes a wooden labyrinth, climbing domes, and inclusive sensory spaces, such as the ‘Bosque de Palos,’ specifically designed to support children with autism.
Both projects focus on community engagement through public spaces, whether through traditional art workshops in Houston or enhanced physical and cognitive development facilities in Córdoba.
