Houston area reports multiple violent crimes and police incidents

Multiple violent incidents have been reported across the Houston area. In Harris County, 31-year-old Ashton Mayo has been arrested and charged with murder for the July 2025 shooting death of Jay Young Jung outside My Bar.

In Houston, police released body camera footage showing officers shooting 45-year-old Demetri O'Neal Thomas. Authorities state Thomas was firing at random vehicles, an incident that left three people wounded, though all survived. Thomas faces multiple counts of aggravated assault.

In northwest Houston, a standoff occurred at the Garden Oaks Village apartment complex following an alleged stabbing. The incident involved thick black smoke and a subsequent response from the Houston Fire Department to an apartment fire.

Additionally, Spring Valley Village police reported two armed robberies occurring within a single hour on a Wednesday night. One suspect is in custody, and investigations are ongoing to identify other potential participants.
