Houston Astros consider infield trades amid roster logjam

The Houston Astros are facing potential roster adjustments due to an overcrowded infield and upcoming free agency. With Carlos Correa's return expected to impact the lineup, the team may need to trade players to avoid losing talent without compensation.

Isaac Paredes has emerged as a key figure in these discussions. After stepping into a significant role following injuries to Jeremy Pena and Carlos Correa, Paredes recorded strong offensive numbers, including 94 RBIs and a 130 wRC+. However, defensive concerns persist, as he has posted negative Defensive Runs Saved at third base for three consecutive seasons.

Potential trade candidates include Paredes, Christian Walker, and Jeremy Pena, all of whom are approaching free agency. The club must balance Paredes' offensive production and his $13.35 million club option against the need to fill other roster holes and manage financial constraints.
