Houston Astros face infield roster decisions for 2027 season

The Houston Astros are facing potential roster changes due to an overcrowded infield heading into the 2027 season. The current group of primary infielders includes Jose Altuve, Jeremy Pena, Isaac Paredes, and Christian Walker, with Carlos Correa also expected to return from injury.

Decisions regarding player movement may be driven by salary and performance. Jose Altuve and Jeremy Pena are considered difficult to move, while Isaac Paredes holds a club option for the upcoming year. Christian Walker experienced a significant decline in offensive production during the latter part of the 2026 season, and Carlos Correa carries a substantial remaining salary despite injury concerns.
