Athletics rally to defeat Houston Astros 7-6
The Athletics rallied from a six-run deficit to defeat the Houston Astros 7-6 on Sunday. The comeback was sparked by a three-run home run from Brian Serven in the fifth inning, followed by contributions from Lawrence Butler and Tommy White to tie the game. Max Muncy provided the decisive blow with a solo home run in the seventh inning.
The Astros initially held a commanding 6-0 lead, fueled by home runs from Jose Altuve and Isaac Paredes. During the game, Yordan Alvarez tied a franchise record with his third intentional walk of the contest. Following the loss, Astros veteran Christian Walker expressed disappointment, stating, “We should be disappointed in the way we played... We’re a better team than that.”
The defeat marks a difficult stretch for Houston, which lost each series during a nine-game homestand. This was the first time since May 2011 that the Astros blew a six-run lead at home.
