Houston Astros option Kohei Togashi to Triple-A

The Houston Astros have optioned Taiwanese pitcher Kohei Togashi to Triple-A to address recent performance struggles. Togashi, who returned to the Major Leagues on August 22, has struggled in his last three appearances, allowing six earned runs over 3.1 innings. Control issues, specifically multiple walks, were noted as a primary factor in the decision.

To fill the vacancy in the bullpen, the Astros have promoted 24-year-old right-hander Miguel Ullola. The move comes at a critical time for the Astros, who are currently leading the American League West but face depth issues in their pitching staff due to injuries, including left-hander Steven Okert.

Under MLB regulations, Togashi must remain in the minor leagues for at least 15 days before he is eligible for a recall, meaning he cannot return to the active roster before September 21 unless special circumstances arise. This season, Togashi has appeared in 30 games with a 5-7 record and a 4.76 ERA.
