Houston Astros part ways with GM Dana Brown

The Houston Astros have announced that general manager Dana Brown will depart the organization following a mutual agreement. Brown, who had held the position since January 2023, was in the final year of his contract. The decision follows a period of inconsistent performance, including a recent 3-6 homestand that left the team with a 65-66 record.

During the transition, owner Jim Crane will oversee baseball operations. The responsibilities of the general manager will be distributed among assistant GMs Charles Cook, Gavin Dickey, and Connor Huff, along with senior advisor Jeff Bagwell. Crane expressed gratitude for Brown’s contributions, noting his role in securing two division titles and leading scouting and player development efforts.

Additionally, reports indicate that manager Joe Espada will not receive a contract extension following the conclusion of the 2026 season. While Espada has elected to remain in his role for the rest of the current campaign, his future with the club appears uncertain as the organization undergoes this front-office restructuring.
