Houston Comets reveal new branding ahead of 2027 WNBA return
The Houston Comets have unveiled their new visual identity and logos as the franchise prepares to return to the WNBA in 2027. The branding marks the end of an 18-season absence for the team, which won four consecutive championships between 1997 and 2000.
The new designs incorporate the team’s traditional colors: red, navy blue, and silver. The logo features four stars to honor the franchise’s four titles, including one white star as a tribute to Texas. Federal trademark filings also reveal designs that blend basketball and space themes, such as a primary logo featuring a large letter “H” with a basketball shaped like a speeding comet.
The team’s return was facilitated by Tilman Fertitta, owner of the Houston Rockets, through the acquisition and relocation of the Connecticut Sun. The Comets are expected to play their home games at the Toyota Center.
