Houston Dynamo reach top of MLS Western Conference

The Houston Dynamo have ascended to the top of the MLS Western Conference following a victory against the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place. This win marks the first time the Dynamo have held the top position in the West since 2008 and extends their winning streak to five matches.

Under manager Ben Olsen, the Dynamo have demonstrated significant defensive strength, recording five consecutive clean sheet victories. This defensive run includes a shutout streak of 462 minutes, which is the second-longest for the club in the last decade. Olsen credited the team's success to their collective spirit and work ethic, noting the importance of maintaining consistency to secure more points.

The Vancouver Whitecaps, who were previously considered pacesetters in the league, currently sit just one point behind Houston in the conference standings. In response to recent challenges, the Whitecaps have bolstered their defense by signing Colombian defender Sebastián Ramírez from Fortaleza CEIF through 2027.
