Houston police officers enter Uber to assist in suspect pursuit

Two Houston police officers entered an Uber vehicle to assist in a pursuit of a fleeing suspect. Dashcam footage shows the officers jumping into the car driven by Anthony Baines, a U.S. Army veteran, while he was en route to pick up a fare on August 8.

The incident occurred after police responded to reports of an armed man threatening a woman and her children at a pool. As the suspect fled on foot, the officers requested that Baines drive them toward the individual. Baines also stopped to pick up the officers' partner before the pursuit continued toward the patrol vehicle.

While the suspect managed to evade capture, police praised Baines for his assistance during the high-adrenaline encounter. Baines described the experience as something he thought only happened in action movies.
