Houston Rockets sign Rafael Castro to two-way deal

The Houston Rockets have signed center Rafael Castro to a two-way contract, replacing guard Tristen Newton, who has been placed on waivers.

Castro, a 6-foot-11 center who previously played for Providence and George Washington, joins the Rockets' two-way roster alongside Quadir Copeland and Sam Pedulla. Castro earned All-Atlantic 10 honors during his collegiate career and recently participated in summer league play with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Newton, a 6-foot-5 guard and the 49th overall pick in the 2024 draft, had a productive season in the G League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers before his release. The roster move comes as the Rockets prepare for training camp and look to manage their two-way player slots.
