Houston Texans face injuries and roster cuts ahead of deadline
The Houston Texans are navigating a period of intense evaluation and injury concerns as the NFL roster cutdown deadline approaches on August 30. During a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders, wide receiver Jayden Higgins and Jared Wayne both sustained injuries. Higgins, the team’s WR2, was unable to finish the session and walked off the field under his own power to be evaluated by medical personnel.
In addition to injury concerns, the team faces significant roster decisions. Analysts suggest several notable players could be cut, including former starting center Jake Andrews, tight end Brevin Jordan, and wide receiver Justin Watson. The team is also evaluating depth at various positions, including the offensive line and quarterback room, as head coach DeMeco Ryans and general manager Nick Caserio finalize the squad.
Defensively, the Texans' unit has shown strength in preseason play, highlighted by aggressive play and the return of defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney, who is expected to provide veteran depth and versatility to the rotation.
