Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud praised after strong offseason

Quarterback C.J. Stroud has earned praise from the Houston Texans after a productive offseason that included a new diet, a haircut change and a full health regimen. General manager Nick Caserio and analysts such as Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer noted his consistency, steadiness and leadership growth, saying the team believes he is ready for the next step in his development.

At the same time, rookie offensive lineman Keylan Rutledge has emerged as a key protector in the Texans’ trenches, improving pass‑rush defense and giving Stroud better time in the pocket. Coaches highlighted Rutledge’s physicality and his role in bolstering the offensive line, which complements the quarterback’s offseason progress.

Both developments are seen as positive signs for the Texans as they prepare for the upcoming season, though the franchise has yet to commit to a long‑term contract for Stroud.
