Houston Texans sign veteran linebacker Sione Takitaki

The Houston Texans have added veteran linebacker Sione Takitaki after a successful workout. Takitaki, an eight‑year NFL veteran with 292 career tackles, previously played for the Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings. The signing comes as the Texans deal with injuries to linebackers Jake Hansen, E.J. Speed and Jake Hummel, prompting head coach DeMeco Ryans to seek depth at the position.

The contract is expected to be a one‑year deal near the league minimum, leaving the team with ample cap space for further roster moves. Takitaki will reunite with former Patriots teammate Marte Mapu, who is also on the Texans roster.
