Houston women's soccer defeats Kansas and Rice

In Houston, Texas, the Houston women's soccer team secured two significant victories on Friday. The Cougars defeated No. 15 Kansas 2-0 at the Carl Lewis International Complex. After a scoreless first half, Ella Morgan scored in the 47th minute, followed by a second goal from Ava Shannon in the 79th minute. The loss impacts Kansas's standing in the Big 12 Conference, as they can no longer compete for the league title and will head to the Big 12 tournament.

In a separate match, Rice defeated Charlotte 3-2. Charlotte scored through Penelope Rich and Lucie Bertrand in the second half to narrow a 2-0 halftime deficit, but an own goal ultimately decided the game for the Owls. Despite the loss, Charlotte has already secured a spot in the American Conference Championships in Florida.
