Dr. Ali Ahmed Al-Mudahwi referred to closed court by Houthi authorities

Dr. Ali Ahmed Al-Mudahwi, a specialist in public health and epidemiology, has been referred to a closed court by Houthi authorities in Sanaa after being held for more than 800 days. His family reports that the legal proceedings are being conducted without him being informed of the specific charges.

According to statements shared by his wife, Safiya Mohammed, Al-Mudahwi spent over 16 months in an underground cell. He claims he was subjected to torture, solitary confinement, and psychological pressure while being blindfolded and restrained. The goal of the interrogation, according to Al-Mudahwi, was to force him to confess to being a spy recruited by the World Health Organization (WHO) to serve Zionist interests.

Al-Mudahwi stated that investigators pressured him to admit that childhood vaccines are tools for espionage. He refused to comply, leading to threats that his detention could extend for decades. His family is calling for his immediate release and a fair trial, noting that any confessions obtained during his detention were made under extreme duress.
