Houthi group announces death of ten officers in clashes with Yemeni government forces

The Houthi group in Yemen announced on November 2, 2026, that ten of its officers were killed during clashes with Yemeni government forces. The announcement comes amid a period of renewed military escalation between the two sides that began in July 2026.

Funeral ceremonies were held in Sanaa for several officers, including Colonels Ibrahim Zaid Ali al-Nunu, Ali Hassan Ali al-Hajri, and Adel Abdullah Yahya al-Sufyani. Other officers honored in Sanaa included Captains Ali Abdullah Ghaleb al-Wasabi, Mohammed Ali Mohammed al-Joubi, Hussein Hussein Yahya Yahya Sabr, and Mazen Ahmed Hassan Ghaboush, as well as Lieutenant Abdullah Saleh Ali al-Maqri. In the Hajjah governorate, ceremonies were held for Colonel Mazen Khalid al-Barghashi and Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah al-Talhi.

The Houthi-controlled Saba news agency stated the individuals died while performing their duties to defend the nation. Specific details regarding the exact time and location of the fatalities were not provided, and the Yemeni government has not issued a comment on the incident.

This escalation has disrupted the relative calm that had existed since April 2022. According to United Nations reports, the recent surge in fighting has resulted in thousands of casualties and the displacement of more than 250,000 people.
