Houthi leader Abu Ali al-Hakim death reports remain unverified
Reports circulating on social media and news platforms claiming that prominent Houthi military leader Abdullah Yahya al-Hakim, known as ‘Abu Ali al-Hakim’, was killed in an airstrike remain unconfirmed.
Field monitoring and local sources indicate there has been no official statement from Houthi authorities, nor has any independent military entity verified the reports. Investigations into recent airstrikes in the Taiz governorate show no evidence of a targeted meeting or presence involving al-Hakim. Furthermore, reports of his death were preceded by unverified claims that he had arrived in Taiz leading a large military force, creating a timeline of conflicting information.
This marks the sixth time in recent years that rumors of al-Hakim’s death have surfaced. Previous unverified reports occurred in May 2015, 2017, September 2018, May 2020, and December 2024. Al-Hakim is a high-ranking military figure within the Houthi movement and is currently subject to United Nations Security Council sanctions.
