Houthi missile attack targets fishermen near Hanish Island

Houthi forces launched a ballistic missile attack targeting fishing boats anchored near Hanish Island in the Red Sea, resulting in injuries and significant property damage.

Reports indicate that at least six fishermen were injured and several others remain missing following the strike. The attack destroyed or burned between three and twelve fishing boats, impacting the livelihoods of approximately 150 families. Approximately 120 fishermen were subsequently evacuated from the island to Al Khokha by Yemeni naval and coast guard forces.

The incident occurred amid escalating tensions in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab strait. Local fishermen's associations have called on the Yemeni government and the Presidential Leadership Council to secure Yemeni coasts and islands against ongoing Houthi attacks and maritime mines.
