Houthi missile strike kills at least 75 in Yemen training camp
At least 75 people were killed and over 200 injured in a Houthi ballistic missile strike on the Al-Alam camp in Yemen's Shabwah governorate on October 19. The attack occurred during a training session for new local force recruits, which Saudi officers were preparing to supervise.
Reports indicate that Saudi soldiers were among the casualties. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as three missiles struck the base after four battalions had gathered. Local authorities in Shabwah have called on Saudi Arabia to provide air defense and early warning systems, noting that the camp currently lacks such protections.
The strike follows a series of recent escalations, including a Houthi drone and missile attack on the Maashiq Palace in Aden on October 15, and a missile strike near Mukalla following the arrival of Saudi military reinforcements.
