Houthi missile strikes kill civilians in Yemen's Lahj Governorate
Houthi militia ballistic missile strikes targeted areas in the Al-Mudarabah and Ras al-Ara districts of Yemen's Lahj Governorate on Wednesday night. The attacks resulted in multiple civilian casualties, including deaths and injuries among displaced families.
One of the missiles struck the vicinity of the Amr ibn al-Aas School in the Al-Malabiyah area. The school was being used as a temporary shelter for internally displaced persons (IDPs), including families fleeing combat in the Al-Wazi'iyah district of Taiz.
Initial reports on the death toll varied, with local sources citing between four and six fatalities and approximately seven to eight injuries. The strikes caused widespread panic among the displaced population, particularly women and children. This escalation occurs amid intensified military confrontations between government forces and Houthi militants across several fronts in western Yemen, including the Sabihah and Al-Mudarabah regions.
