Houthi official issues implicit threats against Al Jazeera in Doha

Hizam al-Assad, a member of the Houthi political bureau, has escalated attacks against the Qatari news network Al Jazeera. In a post on the X platform, al-Assad accused the network of acting as a ‘propaganda spearhead’ against the Houthi movement and participating in what he termed ‘aggression’ against Yemen.

While al-Assad stated that his comments were ‘not incitement nor a threat to target the channel or its building in Doha,’ observers noted that his post contained an implicit threat by specifically mentioning the network’s headquarters in the Qatari capital. This escalation follows a shift in the Houthi leadership's stance toward Al Jazeera, which had previously faced accusations from various Yemeni parties regarding its coverage of the ongoing conflict.
