Houthi leaders condemn Egypt's military support for Saudi Arabia

Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen, has characterized the Egyptian Parliament's decision to authorize military support for Saudi Arabia as a 'declaration of war' against the Republic of Yemen.

The Egyptian Parliament approved a resolution on October 26 allowing the government to take necessary measures to support Saudi Arabia, which may include the deployment of troops. This move follows a request from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi after a visit from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Al-Houthi argued that Egypt's stance contradicts regional efforts to reduce tension and instead serves Israeli interests. He warned that involving Egyptian forces in regional conflicts could lead to the exhaustion of their military capabilities and potentially serve plans to target the Sinai Peninsula.

The Houthi movement also criticized recent defense pacts and diplomatic visits involving Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, and Iran, claiming such alliances are inconsistent with the stated goal of regional stability.
