Houthis target Saudi Aramco refinery in Jazan with drones
Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed responsibility for a second drone attack against a Saudi Aramco oil refinery in Jazan on the Red Sea coast within a single week. The group reported that two drones were used in the strike, which they described as a precise operation.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the attack resulted in negligible damage to a storage tank. This follows a similar incident on August 9, where a crude storage tank was impacted and caught fire before being extinguished by Saudi authorities. No injuries were reported during the previous incident.
The Houthis stated that the attack was a response to Saudi Arabia’s “violation” of Yemeni sovereignty and airspace in the Sa’dah and Hajjah governorates. The group has previously threatened to blockade Saudi oil flows in retaliation to blockades imposed on Yemeni territory.
