How to Fish reaches 1 million sales on Steam in two days
Dazed Games’ new physics-based fishing simulator, ‘How to Fish’, has achieved significant commercial success on Steam, selling 1 million copies within just two days of its August 20 release. The title has seen a massive surge in popularity, reaching a peak of approximately 268,101 concurrent players.
Despite its title, the game features chaotic gameplay that blends fishing with shooter mechanics, allowing players to use firearms and explosives to catch seafood or fight bosses. It supports cooperative play, which was recently expanded from four to eight players via a patch. The game’s success is attributed to its unique ‘friendcore’ social gameplay, accessible pricing, and high user ratings.
On the Steam sales charts, ‘How to Fish’ has reached the number two spot in Japan, trailing only ‘Apex Legends’. Other notable titles appearing in recent rankings include ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’ and ‘Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2’.
