How to Transfer Photos and Free Cloud Space

Transferring photos from a smartphone to a computer can be done directly with a USB cable. Android devices require selecting the “File Transfer” or “MTP” mode, then copying files from the DCIM folder. iPhones connect via Lightning or USB‑C; on Windows users copy from the iPhone’s DCIM folder, while on macOS the Photos app offers an automatic import option.

Cloud storage can be cleared without deleting precious images by addressing hidden data. Large backups of old devices, WhatsApp media, and email attachments often consume most of the quota. On Android builds with custom skins (e.g., HyperOS, MIUI), screenshots and screen recordings are saved in the main DCIM folder and automatically synced by services such as Google Photos. Users can free space by disabling sync for the DCIM folder, moving or deleting unwanted subfolders, and regularly cleaning the trash and WhatsApp media folders.
